What to Watch This Week in Amateur Golf

The summer amateur schedule ramps up with three premier events featuring top college players in individual and team formats. The Trans Mississippi Amateur is happening at Indiana University’s Pfau Course with a field full of national contenders. Overseas, the European Amateur Team Championship in Ireland and the European Ladies’ Team Championship in France bring together the best collegiate talent representing their home countries.



Trans Mississippi Amateur (July 8–11)

Location: Pfau Course, Indiana University
Part of the Elite Amateur Golf Series, this historic tournament features a 144-player field competing over 72 holes, with a cut after 36.

Top College Players:

  • Drew Goodman (Oklahoma): Defending champion who won the 2024 title in a playoff after a final-round 64

  • Carlos Astiazaran (Vanderbilt): Recently won the 2025 North and South Amateur at Pinehurst

  • Kristoffer Kuvaas (Texas A&M): Tied for sixth in 2024 and won the 2025 Southwestern Amateur

  • Harry Crockett (Nebraska): Opened with a 63 in the 2024 championship

  • Cooper Schultz (Kansas State): Held the 54-hole lead in 2024 with three rounds in the 60s

  • Luke Poulter (Florida): Sophomore who earned his first collegiate win at the 2025 Schenkel Invitational and was selected for Team International at the 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup


European Amateur Team Championship (July 8–12)

Location: Killarney Golf and Fishing Club, Ireland
Sixteen national teams compete in two rounds of stroke play followed by seeded match play.

Notable NCAA Players:

  • Filip Jakubčík (Arizona): Reigning European Amateur champion representing the Czech Republic

  • Daniel Svärd (Northwestern): Member of Sweden’s 2024 championship-winning team

  • Magnus Becker Frederiksen (Georgia): Representing Denmark

  • Luke Poulter (Florida): Representing England; rising sophomore for the Gators who recently notched his first college win and played in the Arnold Palmer Cup


European Ladies Team Championship (July 8–12)

Location: Golf de Chantilly, France
Twenty national teams compete in stroke play qualifying followed by match play. Stanford leads all U.S. colleges with four players.

  • Paula Martín Sampedro: 2025 Women's Amateur champion for Spain

  • Andrea Revuelta: Representing Spain

  • Meja Örtengren: ACC Freshman of the Year playing for Sweden

  • Nora Sundberg: Swedish national champion and rising Stanford player

  • Carolina López Chacarra (Wake Forest): 2025 Inkster Award winner and 2023 NCAA team champion for Wake Forest

  • Sophia Fullbrook (Florida State): Representing England; English Girls Amateur champion and national team veteran
