Trans-Mississippi Amateur Preview: July 7–11 at The Pfau Course, Indiana University
The Trans-Mississippi Amateur, first played in 1901, returns July 7–11 for its 121st edition at Indiana University’s Pfau Course in Bloomington. Past champions include Jack Nicklaus, Ben Crenshaw, Collin Morikawa, Will Zalatoris, and Bryson DeChambeau. A competitive field of 144 amateurs will play 72 holes of stroke play, with the low 54 and ties advancing after 36 holes.
College Players Set to Impact the Field:
Carlos Astiazaran (Vanderbilt)
The 2025 North and South Amateur champion continues to build momentum after a playoff win at Pinehurst. His recent success highlights his maturity in elite amateur settings.
Drew Goodman (Oklahoma)
The defending champion at the Trans-Miss, Goodman, won last year’s title with a flawless final-round 64 and a playoff victory. He enters the week ranked inside the top 25 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
Harry Crockett (Nebraska)
Crockett opened last year’s event with an eight-under 63 and held the solo lead after day one. His strong spring with Nebraska adds to his stock entering this week.
Cooper Schultz (Kansas State)
Schultz was the 54-hole leader in 2024 after posting rounds of 67, 66, and 66. He brings a deep amateur resume and is back in the field this year, according to WAGR and event registration.
Kristoffer Kuvaas (Texas A&M)
An incoming junior transfer to Texas A&M, Kuvaas tied for sixth at last year’s Trans-Miss after finishing nine under across four rounds. He enters with confidence after winning the Southwestern Amateur earlier this summer.
