Florida State Adds Top Junior Talent with Miles Russell Commitment

Florida State has landed a major recruiting win with the verbal commitment of 16-year-old Miles Russell, the top-ranked junior in the country. He is expected to join the Seminoles in fall 2027.

Russell currently holds the No. 1 spot in both the AJGA and Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings. He was named the 2023 AJGA Player of the Year after winning two invitationals and placing inside the top ten in all eight starts. He also captured the Junior PGA Championship and represented the U.S. on the Junior Presidents Cup team.

Earlier this year, Russell made national headlines by becoming the youngest player to make a cut on the Korn Ferry Tour. He tied for 20th at the LECOM Suncoast Classic, competing against professionals just months after turning 15.

His commitment strengthens a Florida State program led by longtime head coach Trey Jones, who has produced PGA Tour players such as Brooks Koepka, Daniel Berger, Jonas Blixt, and Hank Lebioda. Backed by NIL partnerships with TaylorMade and Nike, Russell brings not only top-tier ability but also significant marketing value to Florida State’s roster.
