U.S. Women’s Amateur Semifinals Preview

Challenging winds at Bandon Dunes added difficulty to Friday’s quarterfinals, where four players secured spots in the semifinals.

Australia’s Ella Scaysbrook (No. 63 seed) defeated Taylor Kehoe, 5 and 4, starting with a long birdie putt on the first hole and adding an eagle on the ninth. Brooke Biermann of Wildwood, Missouri, beat Ariana Lau, 3 and 2, winning three straight holes on the back nine to take control.

Stanford’s Megha Ganne (No. 11 in WAGR) earned a 2-and-1 win over No. 6 Eila Galitsky, her third straight victory over a top-20 opponent this week. Lyla Louderbaugh of Kansas, ranked No. 249, upset world No. 1 Kiara Romero in 20 holes, sealing the match with a two-putt par.

Semifinal matches are set for Saturday morning, with the 36-hole championship final on Sunday.
