U.S. Finalizes Walker Cup Roster for Cypress Point

The roster for the 2025 United States Walker Cup team is set. After the conclusion of the 125th U.S. Amateur at The Olympic Club, the USGA International Team Selection working group and captain Nathan Smith confirmed the 10 players who will compete against Great Britain and Ireland in the 50th Walker Cup at Cypress Point Club in California from September 6 to 7.

The Walker Cup is a 10 man amateur competition between the United States and Great Britain and Ireland. Cypress Point last hosted the event in 1981 when the Americans won 15–9. The United States leads the overall series 39–9–1.

Meet the Team

Jackson Koivun: Auburn
The world’s top ranked amateur reached the Round of 32 at the U.S. Amateur and added three PGA Tour finishes of 11th or better this summer.

Ben James: Virginia
Ranked second in the world, James reached the Round of 32 at the U.S. Amateur before falling to Mason Howell. He makes his second Walker Cup appearance after competing in 2023.

Michael La Sasso: Ole Miss
Ranked eighth in the world, La Sasso secured his place with an individual win at the 2025 NCAA Championship, completing an outstanding junior season.

Preston Stout: Oklahoma State
Stout dominated the Northeast Amateur with an eight stroke victory and earned medalist honors at the U.S. Amateur, where he reached the Round of 16. He is one of two Oklahoma State players on the roster.

Ethan Fang: Oklahoma State
Fang, ranked third in the world, won The Amateur Championship at Royal St. George’s and reached the Western Amateur final earlier this summer.

Tommy Morrison: Texas
Morrison, ranked sixth, is a former European Amateur champion and stands 6-foot-8. He advanced to match play at the Western Amateur and reached the Round of 64 at the U.S. Amateur.

Jase Summy: Oklahoma
Ranked seventh in the world, Summy won the Western Amateur by defeating Ethan Fang in the final. He also advanced to the Round of 32 at the U.S. Amateur.

Stewart Hagestad: USC alumnus
The 34 year old Mid-Amateur returns for his fifth consecutive Walker Cup. He has compiled an 8–6–1 record in the event and has yet to lose to Great Britain and Ireland.

Mason Howell : Georgia commit
Howell earned an automatic place by winning the U.S. Amateur at Olympic Club. The 18 year old captured the Havemeyer Trophy with a 7 and 6 victory in the championship match.

Jacob Modleski:  Notre Dame
Modleski secured the final spot after a strong finish to the summer, reaching the semifinals of the Western Amateur and advancing to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Amateur.
