Texas Freshman Daniel Bennett Wins 2025 Phil Mickelson Award

Texas men’s golfer Daniel Bennett has been named the 2025 recipient of the Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award, capping off a remarkable debut season in Austin.

Bennett posted a 70.00 scoring average across 34 rounds and notched five top-10 finishes, including runner-up results at the Valspar Collegiate and Southwestern Invitational. He led the Longhorns in scoring and played a pivotal role in helping Texas reach the match play quarterfinals at the NCAA Championships.

His standout year also earned him First Team All-SEC honors, SEC Freshman of the Year, and PING First-Team All-America recognition. Bennett will continue representing at a high level this summer as a member of Team International at the 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup.

Named after the World Golf Hall of Famer, the Phil Mickelson Award is presented annually to the top freshman in NCAA Division I men’s golf.
