Kiara Romero Sets Amateur Record at U.S. Women's Open with Final-Round 67

Oregon sophomore Kiara Romero delivered a historic performance at the 2025 U.S. Women's Open, shooting a 5-under 67 in the final round at Erin Hills—the lowest final-round score ever recorded by an amateur in the championship's history.

After a challenging third round of 84 left her at the bottom of the leaderboard, Romero rebounded impressively on Sunday. Her round included six birdies and just one bogey, showcasing her resilience and skill. Romero finished tied for 45th overall and was the fourth-lowest amateur in the field.

Romero's performance was bolstered by impressive statistics: she gained +3.15 strokes putting (1st), +2.54 strokes on approach shots (3rd), and +1.49 strokes off the tee (7th). She hit 83% of greens in regulation and 86% of fairways, with a driving distance averaging 267.3 yards.

This achievement caps off a stellar season for Romero, who was named the 2025 Big Ten Women's Golfer of the Year and led the Oregon Ducks to a Big Ten Championship and a second consecutive NCAA semifinal appearance.
