Stanford Alumni, Karl Vilips Becomes First PGA Tour Pro to Sign with Tiger Woods' Sun Day Red

Tiger Woods has always envisioned having a PGA Tour player as a brand ambassador for his Sun Day Red apparel line. That vision has now become a reality with the signing of Stanford alumnus Karl Vilips as the company’s first official tour professional.

The connection between Woods and Vilips runs deep, as both played collegiate golf at Stanford. Vilips boasts an impressive resume, having won the Junior World Championship at age 10, securing the Pac-12 title in college, and earning a PGA Tour U Card after finishing 19th in the 2024 Korn Ferry Tour standings. His achievements include a victory at the Utah Championship, which also earned him Rookie of the Year honors.

In a press release, Woods expressed his excitement about signing Vilips:

“Karl’s journey has been marked by success at every level he's played. At Sun Day Red, we were drawn to his relentless work ethic and pioneering spirit—qualities that embody what we stand for and seek in our athletes. With his impressive track record and determination, I have no doubt he will make a significant impact on the PGA Tour and is one of the game’s future stars.”

Vilips is set to debut Sun Day Red apparel at this week’s Mexico Open, which also marks his first start as a PGA Tour U member.

Reflecting on the significance of joining Woods' brand, Vilips shared in a statement:

“It’s a thrill to be part of Sun Day Red, especially so early on as we grow the brand worldwide. Tiger Woods was my idol growing up, and knowing that he drives the insights and meticulousness behind Sun Day Red’s apparel and footwear gives us a unique edge that no other company can match. I couldn’t be more proud to be the brand’s first official ambassador.”
