Smith Takes Commanding Lead After Opening Round at Pacific Coast Amateur

Gabriel Smith of the United States and Sacramento State University shot a 7-under 64 to seize the solo lead after the first round of the 2025 Pacific Coast Amateur at Eugene Country Club. Smith, a Sacramento State University player, opened with a 32 on the front nine and followed with another 32 on the back to set the pace.

One shot back in solo second is Brody Leid of the United States. Leid, a University of Wyoming player, posted a four under 67 to sit alone in second place.

A two-way tie for third at three under features Cooper Humphreys of Canada and Wyatt Provence of the United States. Humphreys plays for the University of San Diego, while Provence represents the University of New Mexico. Both carded rounds of 68.

Four players share fifth place at two under. Dane Huddleston of the United States (University of Illinois), Collin Hodgkinson of the United States (Oregon State University), Luke Dariotis of the United States (Pepperdine University), and Daniel Heo of the United States (University of California) each opened with rounds of 69.

Rounding out the top ten are Greyson Leach of the United States (University of Oregon) and Johnny Walker of the United States (University of Arizona), both finishing at one under with scores of 70.
