Preview: 2025 U.S. Men’s Amateur at The Olympic Club
The 125th U.S. Men’s Amateur will be held August 11–17, 2025, in San Francisco, California. The Olympic Club’s Lake Course will serve as the main venue, with the Ocean Course co-hosting stroke play. The field of 312 includes exempt players and qualifiers from 19 sectional sites, with more than 5,200 entries this year.

Format and Schedule
Two rounds of stroke play on August 11–12 will determine the top 64 for match play. A playoff will be used if necessary. Match play runs August 13–17, ending with a 36 hole final on Sunday.

What’s at Stake
The champion earns the Havemeyer Trophy, a gold medal, and exemptions into the 2026 U.S. Open, the 2026 Open Championship, and is expected to receive a 2026 Masters invitation if still an amateur.
