Round of 64 Recap – U.S. Women’s Amateur

The match play bracket at the U.S. Women’s Amateur opened with major upsets at Bandon Dunes. Stroke play co-medalists Rianne Malixi and Asterisk Talley were both eliminated. Malixi fell to Arianna Lau, the last player into the field, who closed the match with an eagle on the final hole. Talley lost 6 and 4 to Ella Scaysbrook, who had advanced earlier in the morning through the playoff.

Emilia Doran provided one of the most memorable moments of the day. After winning a 20-hole match against Reagan Zibilski, Doran quickly changed roles to report live from the course.

Six matches went to extra holes, the most in a first round since 2016. Notably, Carolina Lopez Chacarra beat world number five Farah O’Keefe in 19 holes, playing multiple holes without shoes. Ashley Kozlowski rallied from three down with three to play and defeated Vanessa Borovilos in 20 holes.

Higher seeds Eila Galitsky, Lyla Louderbaugh, Catherine Rao, Jazy Roberts, and Cindy Hsu all advanced. Several members of the U.S. National Junior Team were knocked out.
