Oklahoma’s Jase Summy Named Ben Hogan Award Golfer of August
Oklahoma senior Jase Summy has been named the Ben Hogan Award Golfer of the Month for August following committee voting and a social media fan vote.
Summy, currently ranked No. 4 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, delivered a standout August highlighted by a historic win at the 123rd Western Amateur, where he defeated Oklahoma State’s Ethan Fang 6&5 in the final. He became the first Sooner since Charlie Coe in 1950 to win the event.
The Keller, Texas, native also tied for medalist honors at the Carmel Cup with an 11-under total at Spyglass Hill, closing with a 66 (-6). At the U.S. Amateur, he finished stroke play inside the top 10 before advancing to the round of 32.
Summy capped his month by helping Team USA to a 17-9 Walker Cup victory at Cypress Point, contributing a team-high three points. He earned 53.8 WAGR points in August, the most of any amateur worldwide.
Other finalists for the monthly honor included Ethan Fang (Oklahoma State) and Jackson Koivun (Auburn).
The Ben Hogan Award, presented by Baird, recognizes the top collegiate golfer annually in May, considering results across college, amateur, and professional events. The 2026 award season spans from the 2025 NCAA Championships through the 2026 NCAA Regionals.
