North and South Amateur Set for Pinehurst

Two of amateur golf’s most prestigious championships have begun today at Pinehurst Resort. The 123rd North & South Women’s Amateur and 125th North & South Men’s Amateur will both open with stroke play on June 24, with match play finals set for June 28 on Pinehurst No. 2.


123rd North & South Women’s Amateur Championship
The 123rd edition of the Women’s Amateur will be held June 24–28, 2025. Players will compete in two rounds of stroke play on Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 4. The top 16 scorers will advance to match play, held entirely on Pinehurst No. 2.

Established in 1903, the women’s championship has crowned some of the most accomplished names in golf. Past winners include Glenna Collett Vare, Babe Zaharias, Louise Suggs, Peggy Kirk Bell, Hollis Stacy, and Morgan Pressel. More recent champions include Emilia Migliaccio (2020), Rachel Kuehn (2021), and Catie Craig (2024).


125th North & South Men’s Amateur Championship
The 125th Men’s Amateur will run concurrently, also from June 24–28, 2025. Competitors will play two rounds of stroke play on Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 7. The top 32 players will move on to match play, which will take place entirely on Pinehurst No. 2.

First played in 1901, the men’s championship is one of the oldest in the country. Notable champions include Jack Nicklaus, Francis Ouimet, Curtis Strange, Corey Pavin, and Matt NeSmith. Recent winners include Luke Clanton (2022), Nick Dunlap (2023), and Davis Ovard (2024).


Championship Venue: Pinehurst No. 2
Pinehurst No. 2, designed by Donald Ross and restored by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, is one of the most respected venues in American golf. It is known for firm fairways, crowned greens, and natural sandy surrounds. No. 2 has hosted three U.S. Opens, a U.S. Women’s Open, and multiple U.S. Amateurs.
