Justin Hastings Named Low Amateur at 2025 U.S. Open

Justin Hastings made history at Oakmont Country Club by becoming the first player from the Cayman Islands to earn Low Amateur honors at the U.S. Open. The San Diego State senior finished at five over par with rounds of 72, 71, 70, and 72 for a total score of 285.

Hastings was the only amateur to make the cut and finished in a tie for 44th. He built separation from the rest of the amateur field with a steady performance on Saturday, recording a third-round 70 that proved to be the difference.

This result follows his Low Amateur finish at the 2025 Masters in April. With consecutive top amateur finishes in two majors, Hastings has delivered one of the most consistent stretches in recent amateur golf.

He closed out his career at San Diego State last month as the most decorated golfer in program history. During his four years, he broke multiple all-time records previously held by Xander Schauffele.
