Jackson Koivun, Lance Simpson, and John Daly II Named Ben Hogan Award July Finalists
The Ben Hogan Award has announced its finalists for July Golfer of the Month, featuring standout performances from Jackson Koivun, Lance Simpson, and John Daly II.
Jackson Koivun, the world’s top-ranked amateur from Auburn, posted two top-12 finishes in PGA TOUR events, including a tie for sixth at the ISCO Championship with a 275 (-5) and a tie for 11th at the John Deere Classic at 269 (-15). Six of his eight competitive rounds for the month were in the 60s, highlighted by a career-best 64, resulting in a 68.00 scoring average.
Lance Simpson, ranked No. 22 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, secured the Trans-Mississippi Amateur title by four shots with a 267 (-17), carding rounds of 64-67-67-69 and recording 18 birdies with just one bogey. The Tennessee senior also tied for 31st at the Southern Amateur and finished the month with a 70.00 scoring average.
John Daly II, ranked No. 120 in the WAGR, claimed the Southern Amateur Championship by five shots at 278 (-10), with all four rounds under par. The Arkansas senior also tied for 15th at the Trans-Mississippi Amateur and closed July with a 70.00 scoring average.
