GCU Golf to Compete in Mountain West Starting Fall 2025
GCU will officially begin competition in the Mountain West Conference this fall, advancing its men’s and women’s golf programs into a more competitive environment.
The move follows a decade of GCU competing in the Western Athletic Conference. The women’s team secured the WAC Championship in April 2024. Meanwhile, the men’s program advanced to NCAA Regionals in 2021, 2022, and 2024.
Joining the Mountain West places GCU alongside established programs, such as San Diego State, New Mexico, and Colorado State, which collectively earned multiple NCAA Regional berths in 2024. The conference has consistently sent at least three teams to the NCAA Men’s Golf Regionals in each season of its existence.
Competing in the Mountain West gives GCU immediate eligibility for conference championships and NCAA postseason opportunities under the conference’s revised timeline. This also strengthens recruiting, as Mountain West membership raises national visibility and appeal for prospective student-athletes.
GCU will compete in Mountain West golf beginning with the 2025–26 season. The program now shifts its goal from previous success in the WAC to securing a Mountain West title and earning NCAA Regional placement through conference performance.
