David Marr III Joins CGN Broadcast at Sunnehanna

David Marr III brought national broadcast experience to CGN’s coverage of the 84th Sunnehanna Amateur, joining the team for livestream commentary and production during the final two rounds. Marr, a former Golf Channel analyst and longtime voice of PGA Tour Champions coverage, worked from a digital control room set up on site at Sunnehanna Country Club.

The CGN crew handled live player interviews, leaderboard graphics, and drone visuals, helping elevate the digital reach of one of amateur golf’s most respected tournaments. Marr said the broadcast reminded him of his early days at ABC Sports during the 1983 U.S. Open.

“We have a group of golf-loving people doing now what we did 42 years ago,” Marr said. “It looks like it is out of the back of a van, but with incredibly high tech equipment.”

First played in 1954, the Sunnehanna Amateur has helped launch the careers of many top professionals. Past players include Collin Morikawa, who won the event in 2016, as well as Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler, and Scottie Scheffler. Marr called it one of the cornerstone events in amateur golf and praised CGN’s livestream for helping bring its tradition to a wider audience.
