Pimchompoo Chaisilprungruang Fires 64 to Lead Women’s Western Amateur
Pimchompoo Chaisilprungruang of UNC Charlotte delivered the low round on Tuesday at the 125th Women’s Western Amateur, carding an eight-under 64 at Red Run Golf Club in Royal Oak, Michigan. The performance gave her a three-shot cushion heading into Wednesday’s second round of stroke play.
University of Texas teammates Huai-Chien Hsu and defending champion Farah O’Keefe each shot 67 to share second place. Gabriella Nicastro of Samford University sits in solo fourth after posting a four-under 68.
A five-player group is tied for fifth at three under, including Kylee Choi of Pepperdine, Maelynn Kim of Houston, Ashleen Kaur of Miami, Australia’s Jazy Roberts, and Macy Pate of Wake Forest. College of Charleston’s Emma Schimpf also posted 69 to round out the top ten.
Stroke play will continue on Wednesday before the field is cut for match play.
