Baylor Alum Johnny Keefer Sweeps Korn Ferry Tour Player and Rookie of the Year Honors
Baylor alum Johnny Keefer capped a historic rookie season by being named both the 2025 Korn Ferry Tour Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, becoming only the third player to sweep both awards.
Keefer earned the honors after finishing No. 1 on the 2025 Korn Ferry Tour Points List, backed by victories at the Veritex Bank Championship and the NV5 Invitational. He led the Tour in top five finishes (six), top 10s (nine), and top 25s (15), and set a new single-season scoring average record of 67.95, surpassing Luke Guthrie’s 2012 mark.
The San Antonio native and former Baylor standout also ranked inside the top 15 in Scrambling (second), Total Driving (fourth), Putting Average (10th), and Greens in Regulation (15th). By topping the points list, Keefer earned exemptions into the 2026 PLAYERS Championship and 2026 U.S. Open, with a potential 2026 Masters invitation if he remains in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking by year’s end.
Keefer’s rise began at Baylor, where he broke the program record for career scoring average (71.45) and finished T11 at the 2024 NCAA Championship, securing the final PGA TOUR University spot at No. 25. He then dominated PGA TOUR Americas, finishing No. 1 in the 2024 Fortinet Cup standings with one win and four runner up finishes to earn his Korn Ferry Tour card.
Keefer joins Sungjae Im (2018) and Scottie Scheffler (2019) as the only players to claim both awards in the same season.
