Arizona Amateur Round of 32 Preview
Jack Kozlowski, seeded No. 57, delivered the biggest story of the opening round at the 101st Arizona Amateur Championship with a 20-hole upset over No. 8 seed Daniel Henely at Seville Golf & Country Club.
The Scottsdale native and former UNLV golfer rallied from two down late, forced extra holes with an eagle at 18, and advanced after Henely faltered on the 20th.
Other highlights included No. 2 seed Cody Massa’s 7&6 win over Quinton Breuer, No. 12 seed Jorge Parada’s 6&5 victory against Daichi Molde, and No. 61 seed Charlie Palmer’s upset of No. 4 Grant Cesarek, 2&1.
The field was trimmed to 64 following a morning playoff, with match play continuing Thursday through the Round of 32 and Round of 16. Quarterfinals and semifinals are set for Friday, with the final on Saturday. The champion will earn an exemption into the 2026 U.S. Amateur at Merion Golf Club.
