77th U.S. Junior Amateur Gets Underway at Trinity Forest

The 2025 U.S. Junior Amateur has officially begun, featuring 264 top junior golfers from 38 U.S. states and 32 countries competing from July 21 to 26 at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, with initial stroke play rounds co‑hosted at Brook Hollow.

Defending champion Trevor Gutschewski leads the field, aiming to defend his 2024 title at Oakland Hills. If he succeeds, he will replicate Tiger Woods by claiming back-to-back titles.

Several members of the reigning U.S. National Junior Team are competing, including Tyler Watts, Tyler Mawhinney, Miles Russell, Luke Colton, and Xihuan Chan, all of whom are ranked among the top 120 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking as of July 17.

Charlie Woods, son of Tiger Woods, earned his second consecutive Junior Amateur berth by winning a playoff at Eagle Trace in Florida on June 20. He recently captured the Team TaylorMade Invitational, which helped boost him into this year’s field. Trinity Forest is hosting its first U.S. Junior Amateur. The course opened in 2016 and was designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. Brook Hollow, dating to 1920 and renovated in 2019, serves as the second stroke-play venue.

The format includes two stroke-play rounds to determine the top 64 players advancing to match play. The championship concludes with a 36-hole final on Saturday, July 26.
