Larkin Gross Dominates to Win the 2025 State Open of Virginia; Rinaldi Finishes as Low Amateur

Larkin Gross delivered a commanding performance at the 2025 State Open of Virginia, winning the championship at Independence Golf Club with a three-day total of 194. Representing Westwood Country Club, Gross posted rounds of 63, 64, and 67 to finish at 16 under and secure a seven-shot victory.

Gross made 20 birdies across the tournament, opening with nine in the first round and adding six in the second and five in the final round.

Sunday’s final round brought strong competition, but no one was able to close the gap. Charlie Hanson and Connor Burgess tied for second at nine under. Justin LaRue finished solo fourth at eight under.

Luca Rinaldi of Salisbury Country Club earned Low Amateur honors, tying for sixth at six under. Rinaldi opened with rounds of 67 and 65 before closing with a 72.
