Wake Forest Edges Stanford to Capture Stephens Cup Women’s Title

For the second time in three years, No. 11 Wake Forest claimed the Jackson T. Stephens Cup, defeating No. 1 Stanford 3–2 in Wednesday’s match play final at Shoreacres. Senior Anne-Sterre den Dunnen secured the clinching point, topping world No. 21 Kelly Xu in a match that extended to the 21st hole.

Den Dunnen never trailed, holding a narrow lead for much of the contest. After Xu leveled the match on No. 17, the pair remained tied until extra holes. On the 21st, den Dunnen found the fairway and reached the green in regulation while Xu landed in the front bunker. A conceded par fromdDen Dunnen sealed the win and the team championship for the Demon Deacons.

  • Morgan Ketchum gave Wake Forest its first point, defeating world No. 2 Paula Martín Sampedro 4&3 after building a 4UP advantage by the turn.

Stroke Play Recap

Wake Forest also dominated the stroke play portion earlier in the week, finishing as the only team under par in the six-team field. Sophomore Macy Pate earned individual medalist honors, her second significant title of the fall season.



Continuing Match Play Success

The victory improved Wake Forest’s match play record to 19–2 since the 2023 national championship. The Demon Deacons have now defeated Stanford in consecutive match play meetings, including a 3–2 semifinal win at the 2025 ACC Championship.
