UNC’s Megan Streicher Advances to Final LPGA Qualifier
North Carolina senior Megan Streicher, the program’s all-time scoring average leader, has advanced to the final stage of the LPGA Q-Series after an impressive performance in Venice, Florida.
Streicher finished tied for eighth in a 192-player field with a 9-under-par total of 279 during the second stage of qualifying. The Cape Town, South Africa native now faces a career-defining choice: turn professional and compete in the Final Qualifying Stage, set for December 4–8 in Mobile, Alabama, or return to Chapel Hill to lead the Tar Heels through the spring season.
A two-time All-ACC selection, Streicher holds a program-best career scoring average of 72.46 and owns the top two single-season marks in UNC history. She became the first Tar Heel to play in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur and has represented South Africa at the World Amateur Team Championship.
Across her Tar Heel career, Streicher has recorded 13 top-10 finishes, including a fourth-place showing at the Folds of Honor Collegiate in September. She missed last weekend’s Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational due to LPGA qualifying but is expected to return for the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington.
