Summy Claims 2025 Western Amateur Title

Jase Summy, an incoming Senior of Oklahoma, won the 123rd Western Amateur at Skokie Country Club in Glencoe, Illinois, defeating Oklahoma State’s Ethan Fang 6 and 5 in the championship match. Summy is the first Sooner to win the event since Charlie Coe in 1950 and matched the largest victory margin in a final since the 18-hole format began in 1961.

Summy took control early, winning the second and third holes, and extended his lead with victories on holes 8, 9, and 10. The match ended on the 13th when Fang’s approach found the water. Summy played the match in four under par to Fang’s four over.

In the semifinals, Summy defeated Florida’s Zackary Swanwick in 19 holes, while Fang advanced with a 5 and 3 win over Notre Dame’s Jacob Modleski. With the win, Summy earned an exemption into the 2026 NV5 Invitational on the Korn Ferry Tour.
