Stanford’s Paula Martin Sampedro Wins Low Amateur Honors at AIG Women’s Open
Stanford’s Paula Martin Sampedro earned low amateur honors at the 2025 AIG Women’s Open at Royal Porthcawl in Wales, finishing tied for eighth at 4-under par. She closed with a 4-under 68, firing a back-nine 30 with five straight birdies, which was the lowest inward nine of the week.
Martin Sampedro is the fourth Spaniard to win the Smyth Salver low amateur, joining Marta Figueras-Dotti, Elisa Serramia, and Luna Sobron. She was the only amateur to make the cut and posted the best finish by an amateur at the championship since 2005.
The result adds two points to her LPGA Elite Amateur Pathway total, bringing her to nine, 11 points shy of the threshold for LPGA Tour membership eligibility. Her 2025 season also includes victories at the Women’s Amateur Championship and European Ladies Amateur Championship, which helped her rise to No. 3 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
