Koivun Secures Top-Five Finish at Wyndham Championship
Auburn’s Jackson Koivun capped his summer PGA Tour run with a tie for fifth at the Wyndham Championship, earning a spot in the upcoming Procore Championship, the first event of the FedExCup Fall.
Competing at Sedgefield Country Club on a sponsor exemption, the world’s top-ranked amateur finished at 14-under with rounds of 68, 66, 65, and 67. His week was highlighted by a 25-foot birdie putt from off the green on the 18th hole Sunday to move into the top five.
Koivun led the field in driving accuracy, hitting 46 of 56 fairways. He ranked 12th in strokes gained off the tee, 17th in strokes gained approach, and 32nd in strokes gained putting. His performance placed him ahead of Hideki Matsuyama, Jordan Spieth, Sungjae Im, Rickie Fowler, Tony Finau, and Adam Scott.
The finish continues a strong summer for Koivun, who tied for 11th at the John Deere Classic and tied for sixth at the ISCO Championship. He also qualified for the U.S. Open, narrowly missing the cut. Despite earning his PGA Tour card through PGA TOUR U Accelerated, Koivun will defer turning professional until 2026 and return to Auburn for his junior season.
