Seven Days Out: CGN to Broadcast Final Nine of Texas Junior Amateur at Horseshoe Bay

We are seven days out from the 99th Texas Junior Amateur presented by Edwin Watts Golf, set for July 28 to 30 at Horseshoe Bay Resort. CGN will livestream the final nine holes of the Boys and Girls Divisions on Tuesday, July 30, bringing increased visibility to one of the state’s premier junior championships.

The Boys Division will play all three rounds on the Ram Rock course, with the field cut to the low 45 players and ties after the second round. The Girls Division, along with the Boys and Girls 14 and Under Divisions, will compete at Apple Rock. The Girls Division will play 54 holes with a cut to the low 27 and ties. The 14 and Under divisions will play 36 holes.

Top players in the Boys Division include Wichita State commit Rhett O’Rear, Houston commit Matt Pawly, Michigan commit Mackey Beckett, and defending champion and Texas A&M commit Shiv Parmar. The Girls Division features U.S. National Development Program player Shyla Brown, 2024 champion Honorine Nobuta-Ferry, and Ava Osborne, who reached match play at the U.S. Girls’ Junior.

This year marks the third consecutive Texas Junior Amateur to be recognized as an official USGA exemption event. The Boys Division champion will qualify for the 78th U.S. Junior Amateur at Saucon Valley. The Girls Division champion will earn a spot in the 77th U.S. Girls’ Junior at Old Chatham.

The Texas Junior Amateur was first played in 1920 at Brackenridge Park in San Antonio and remains one of the longest-running junior championships in the country. Horseshoe Bay Resort returns as host for the second consecutive year, with the first round beginning Sunday, July 28, at 7:30 a.m.
