Oklahoma State Men’s Golf Opens at No. 1 in Golfweek’s 2025–26 Preseason Rankings

Golfweek has released its preseason rankings for the 2025–26 men’s college golf season, with Oklahoma State Men’s golf leading the list after capturing last year’s national championship. Virginia, Texas, Auburn, and Florida round out the top five, each returning lineups capable of contending for the title.

Top 10 Teams

1. Oklahoma State
The Cowboys return all five starters from their championship roster. Ethan Fang, fresh off a British Amateur victory, and Preston Stout, the U.S. Amateur medalist and two-time Big 12 champion, headline a team that also includes Eric Lee and freshman Henry Guan. Both Fang and Stout will represent the United States in the Walker Cup.

2. Virginia
All five players from last season’s runner-up finish are back. Ben James, the top-ranked player in the PGA Tour University Class of 2026, leads a strong core that includes Bryan Lee, Paul Chang, and Josh Duangmanee.

3. Texas
Christiaan Maas and Tommy Morrison return for their senior seasons, joined by sophomore standout Daniel Bennett, last year’s Phil Mickelson Award winner. Luke Potter, Jack Gilbert, and transfer Matt Comegys add depth to the Longhorns’ lineup.

4. Auburn
World No. 1 Jackson Koivun enters his junior year as the centerpiece of Auburn’s roster. Cayden Pope and Josiah Gilbert also return, while Billy Davis and freshman Logan Reilly are expected to step into larger roles.

5. Florida
The Gators boast one of the deepest rosters in the country with nine players capable of contributing. Noah Kent, the 2024 U.S. Amateur runner-up, will make his debut after missing the spring season. Luke Poulter, Jack Turner, Parker Bell, and freshmen Joshua Bai and Trevor Gutschewski round out a versatile roster.

6. Ole Miss
Michael La Sasso, the reigning NCAA individual champion, returns to lead the Rebels. He is supported by Cameron Tankersley, Cohen Trolio, and Tom Fischer as Ole Miss looks to build on one of its strongest seasons in program history.

7. LSU
Motivated after an early postseason exit last spring, LSU brings back key contributors including Arni Sveinsson, Matthew Dodd-Berry, Jay Mendell, and Aldred Bondesson. Freshman Dan Hayes arrives with high expectations.

8. Arizona State
After winning the stroke-play portion of last year’s NCAA Championship, Arizona State looks to replace veteran leadership with Michael Mjaaseth, Connor Williams, Fifa Laopakdee, and Peer Wernicke stepping into bigger roles.

9. Oklahoma
Walker Cup selection Jase Summy leads the Sooners alongside Ryder Cowan, Clark Van Gaalen, and PJ Maybank III. A mix of freshmen and sophomores will compete to round out the rotation.

10. Illinois
Max Herendeen and Ryan Voois anchor Illinois, joined by transfer Nate Huddleston from Utah Valley. Huddleston earned third-team All-America honors last season and is expected to make an immediate impact.
