Megha Ganne Wins 125th U.S. Women’s Amateur at Bandon Dunes
Megha Ganne captured her first USGA title with a 4 and 3 victory over Brooke Biermann in the 36-hole final of the 125th U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship at Bandon Dunes.
The Stanford senior and 2021 U.S. Women’s Open low amateur built a 3-up lead in the morning round with birdies on holes 13 and 15. She maintained control in the afternoon despite winds approaching 30 mph, closing out the match on the 33rd hole with a two-putt par from 20 feet.
In the semifinals, Ganne erased a four-hole deficit with seven to play before defeating Ella Scaysbrook in 19 holes. Across the week, she won five consecutive matches against players ranked inside the top 50 of the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
A native of Holmdel, New Jersey, Ganne becomes the first Stanford women’s golfer to win the U.S. Women’s Amateur since Rose Zhang in 2020. She is also the first player from New Jersey to claim the title since 1955.
With the victory, Ganne earns exemptions into the 2026 U.S. Women’s Open at Riviera Country Club, the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, the Chevron Championship, the Evian Championship, and a place on the 2026 USA Curtis Cup Team.
