Lee’s Drew Zielinski Makes Division II History with PGA Tour Exemption
Lee University senior Drew Zielinski earned an exemption into the Butterfield Bermuda Championship on the PGA Tour after capturing the Golfweek Fripp Island to Bermuda Invitational title at Ocean Point Golf Links in South Carolina.
Zielinski became the first NCAA Division II player to earn a PGA Tour start. He closed with three consecutive birdies to finish at 9-under 207, two shots ahead of teammate Bennett McNabb. Zielinski opened the event with a course-record 7-under 65 and helped Lee University secure the team title at 25-under, winning by 18 strokes over Georgia Southwestern.
The Butterfield Bermuda Championship will take place from October 31 to November 3 at Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, Bermuda. Zielinski will be the third player in program history to compete in a PGA Tour event, joining alumni MJ Daffue and Beck Burnette.
