Maja Stark Wins 2025 U.S. Women’s Open for First Major Title
Sweden’s Maja Stark captured her first major championship at the 2025 U.S. Women’s Open, posting a 7-under total at Erin Hills to edge out Nelly Korda and Rio Takeda by two shots.
The 25-year-old closed with an even-par 72 on Sunday, highlighted by birdies on 11 and 14 that helped her seize control of the final round. Despite bogeys on her final two holes, Stark maintained a steady hand to secure the title.
A former standout at Oklahoma State University, Stark was a two-time All-American and Big 12 Champion for the Cowgirls before turning professional in 2021. Her win at Erin Hills marks her first LPGA victory on U.S. soil and ninth professional title overall.
Stark becomes the third Swedish woman to win the U.S. Women’s Open, following Liselotte Neumann and Annika Sörenstam.
