In this interview, Jasmine Koo shares her journey from competitive swimming to golf at just 11 years old, the moment she recognized her exceptional talent in women’s golf, and how she manages expectations for every tournament.

She also discusses her decision to commit to USC, influenced by its proximity to her hometown, and how USC head coach Justin Silverstein identified her talent early on, making her feel valued and respected.

Jasmine reflects on some of her favorite moments in her young golf career, including competing in prestigious events like the Toyota Junior Golf World Cup and the camaraderie she shares with her USC golf teammates.

She also delves into the mental side of the game, emphasizing the importance of confidence, staying present, and focusing on one shot at a time. Jasmine hopes her mindset can serve as valuable advice for other college golfers.

While she acknowledges that bad rounds can linger in her mind, she stresses the importance of resilience, saying, “You are still the same golfer, and you still have the same drive and competitiveness to overcome bad rounds.” Even after tough losses, she remains optimistic, focusing on lessons learned and areas for improvement.

Jasmine also shares her excitement for upcoming tournaments, her thoughts on staying in college, and the complexities of the LEAP program, which prevents her from immediately turning pro. She emphasizes the importance of accumulating points and competing in as many professional tournaments as possible over the summer, including the U.S. Women’s Open qualifier.

Looking ahead, Jasmine discusses her aspirations to compete in events like the Curtis Cup again and earn the prestigious Annika Award. She also recalls a standout shot at the Chevron Championship and breaks down the specifics of executing key shots during practice.
