Georgia Tech Coach Bruce Heppler to Retire After 2025- 26 Season

Georgia Tech head coach Bruce Heppler will retire after the 2025 26 season, concluding a remarkable 30-year career that built one of the most consistent programs in college golf.

Since taking over in 1995, Heppler has led the Yellow Jackets to 27 straight NCAA Regional appearances and 22 NCAA Finals, including four national runner-up finishes and semifinal appearances in both 2023 and 2024. His teams have finished inside the national top ten in nearly every season since 2000.

A ten-time ACC Coach of the Year and Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame inductee, Heppler has coached many of the sport’s top amateur and professional players. His former athletes include NCAA champions Troy Matteson in 2002 and Hiroshi Tai in 2024, national players of the year Matt Kuchar, Bryce Molder, and Matteson, as well as U S Amateur winners Kuchar in 1997, Andy Ogletree in 2019, and Tyler Strafaci in 2020. He also guided Christo Lamprecht, who won the 2023 British Amateur.

Originally from St George, Utah, Heppler began his coaching career as an assistant at Oklahoma State before taking the Georgia Tech job. His leadership has defined generations of Yellow Jacket golfers who have gone on to succeed both on and off the course.
