David Ford, Mirabel Ting Named Golfweek Players of the Year

Two of college golf’s brightest stars were honored this week as Golfweek Magazine named North Carolina’s David Ford and Florida State’s Mirabel Ting the 2025 College Golf Players of the Year.

Ford, a junior for the Tar Heels, capped off a stellar campaign by winning his third National Player of the Year honor. Already a standout on the amateur scene, Ford broke the ACC’s single-season scoring average record and posted the fourth-lowest scoring mark in NCAA men’s golf history. Known for his consistent ball-striking and calm demeanor under pressure, Ford led UNC to a strong postseason push and continued to cement himself as one of the elite talents in college golf.

On the women’s side, Florida State sophomore Mirabel Ting earned her first National Player of the Year honor from Golfweek after an incredible season that included four victories and a 70.03 scoring average. Ting’s scoring mark ranks as the fourth-best in NCAA women’s golf history. The Malaysia native showed dominance throughout the spring, highlighted by her win at the NCAA Raleigh Regional and a runner-up finish at the ACC Championship.

Both Ford and Ting have represented their programs and countries on the biggest stages, including the Arnold Palmer Cup, and are expected to be fixtures on the global golf scene moving forward.
