David Ford Earns PGA TOUR Card and Wins 2025 Haskins Award

North Carolina senior David Ford capped off a historic college career with two of the sport’s most prestigious honors: earning full PGA TOUR membership through PGA TOUR University and being named the 2025 Fred Haskins Award winner as the National Men’s College Golfer of the Year.

Ford becomes just the second player to receive a PGA TOUR card directly through PGA TOUR U, following Ludvig Åberg in 2023. His TOUR eligibility begins immediately following the NCAA Championship.

The Chapel Hill standout led the nation with five individual victories in the 2024–25 season, including the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational, and finished with a scoring average of 68.78. He set multiple UNC single-season records, including:

  • Total strokes under par: -89

  • Average strokes under par per round: -2.47

  • Rounds in the 60s: 25

Ford matched the school record with seven career wins and set new UNC career marks for scoring average (70.13), total strokes under par (-162), and rounds in the 60s (66). A three-time All-American and Walker Cup team member, he also earned five ACC Player of the Month honors during his career.

Ford is only the second Tar Heel to win the Haskins Award, joining John Inman (1984), and the 11th ACC player to receive the honor. He now joins the ranks of past winners such as Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Justin Thomas.

His rise underscores the impact of PGA TOUR University in bridging elite college performance with immediate professional opportunity.
