Coleman and Nguyễn Set for U.S. Junior Amateur Final at Trinity Forest
Saturday at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Georgia commit Hamilton Coleman and Vietnam’s Nguyễn Anh Minh will compete in the 36-hole championship match at the 2025 U.S. Junior Amateur.
How They Got Here:
Hamilton Coleman (USA, University of Georgia commit)
In the Round of 64, Coleman defeated Tyler Watts 2 and 1.
He advanced with a 2 and 1 win over Sohan Patel of Weston, Florida in the Round of 32.
In the quarterfinals, Coleman defeated Luke Colton, a Vanderbilt commit and the second-ranked junior in the world, 5 and 4. He made just one bogey and took advantage of Colton’s early miscues. A highlight came at the par-3 eighth, where Coleman lagged a 70-foot putt through multiple breaks to inside two feet for a conceded birdie. Colton struggled after injuring his wrist while playing from a bush on the second hole.
Coleman is aiming to become the first Georgia representative to win the U.S. Junior since Andy Shim in 2012 and the first Georgia commit to do so since Brian Harman in 2003.
Nguyễn Anh Minh (Vietnam, Oregon State University commit)
Nguyễn began match play with a win over Nicholas Gross of Alabama in the Round of 64.
He followed with a Round of 32 victory over Ayden Fynaut, a Fresno State commit who posted the lowest stroke play round of the week (64) at co-host site Lakewood.
In the quarterfinals, Nguyễn overwhelmed Qiyou Wu of China, a Notre Dame commit, taking a 5-up lead through six holes and only losing one hole in the match. An incoming freshman at Oregon State and ranked No. 52 in the WAGR, Nguyễn is the first Vietnamese player to reach the U.S. Junior final.
What’s at Stake
The winner of Saturday’s 36-hole final will earn a spot in the 2026 U.S. Open and etch their name into one of junior golf’s most prestigious titles. Tee time is set for 8:45 a.m. ET.
