Virginia’s Top Talent Set to Compete at Farmington for 3rd Women’s Open of Virginia

The 3rd Women’s Open of Virginia will be played June 23–25 at Farmington Country Club in Charlottesville. The Virginia State Golf Association organizes the championship in partnership with the Middle Atlantic PGA and First Tee – Virginia Blue Ridge.

This is a 54-hole stroke-play event. After 36 holes, the field will be cut to the low 25 players and ties for the final round. The event features female amateurs and professionals with Virginia ties.

Defending champion Michelle Cox returns following her victory in the 2024 championship at Independence Golf Club. A former Penn State standout, Cox earned a spot in the 2024 U.S. Women’s Amateur and recorded a 73.84 scoring average during her senior season.

The field includes several collegiate players with strong resumes:

  • Katie Vu (North Carolina): Competed in the ACC Championship and NCAA Regional, averaging 73.82 over 22 rounds

  • Kennedy Swedick and Kiera Bartholomew (Virginia): Active players in the Cavaliers' lineup

  • Elsie MacCleery (Virginia signee): Former VSGA Junior Girls’ champion

  • Kathryn Ha (Vanderbilt signee): Named VSGA Junior Girls’ Golfer of the Year in 2022 and 2023

  • Alina Ho (Virginia Tech): Returning member of the Hokies' roster

  • Emerson Dever (Virginia Tech signee): 2024 Lanto Invitational champion and U.S. Girls’ Junior qualifier

  • Paris Fieldings (Howard): Northeast Conference individual champion and NCAA Charlottesville Regional qualifier
