Developing at Ole Miss
Trolio’s path at Ole Miss has been built through steady progression.
He appeared in two events as a freshman before competing primarily as an individual during his sophomore season. As a junior, Trolio expanded his role to 11 tournaments and 33 competitive rounds with a 72.61 scoring average.
Trolio told CGN that learning how to manage his time and practice with greater structure played an important role in his development. His current routine addresses each part of his game rather than allowing the result of his previous round to dictate how he practices.
SEC Championship Breakthrough
Trolio delivered some of his biggest performances during Ole Miss’ run to the 2026 SEC Championship.
He defeated Texas A&M’s Shiv Parmar 2 and 1 in the quarterfinals before earning another 2 and 1 victory over Koivun in the semifinals. Trolio then defeated Florida’s Matthew Kress in the championship match as Ole Miss secured its first SEC title since 1984.
Trolio told CGN that patience and commitment to his routine were important during the match against Koivun. He focused on one hole at a time and relied on his short game late in a long day of competition.
The experience also strengthened his confidence in pressure situations and showed him what his game could produce against elite competition.
Career Best Golf and Summer Success
Trolio carried that momentum into the NCAA postseason.
At the NCAA Winston Salem Regional, he recorded a career low 66 and career best 54 hole total of 207 at 6 under.
His strong play continued during the summer with a tie for third at the Monroe Invitational and tie for sixth at the Dogwood Invitational. Trolio also competed in the 126th U.S. Amateur at Merion.
