Long Beach State Leads Big West Men’s Championship After Round One, Steen Zeman Sets Individual Pace
Round one of the Big West Men’s Golf Championship is complete at La Quinta Country Club, with Long Beach State taking control of the team leaderboard at 12 under.
Long Beach State holds a 14 shot lead after the opening round at 12 under. Cal Poly is second at 2 over. UC San Diego and UC Davis are tied for third at 3 over. Hawaii and UC Irvine are tied for fifth at 5 over. UC Santa Barbara sits seventh at 7 over, followed by CSU Fullerton at 10 over. CSU Northridge and UC Riverside round out the field at 22 over and 23 over.
In the individual standings, Long Beach State’s Steen Zeman leads at 5 under. A group of three players are tied for second at 3 under, including Long Beach State’s Jack Cantlay and Alejandro De Castro, along with UC Davis’ Zhenxian Zhang.
UC San Diego’s Ethan Lien, Long Beach State’s Jaden Huggins, and Hawaii’s Dane Watanabe are tied for fifth at 1 under. UC Irvine’s Jason Tang, UC Davis’ Curtis Da Silva, and Cal Poly’s Rafael Bobo Lloret are tied for eighth at even par.
