High Point captured the 2026 Big South Women’s Golf Championship at Ocean Creek Golf Course at Fripp Island Resort in South Carolina, defeating UNC Asheville in a 3 to 2 match play final to secure the program’s first conference title and a spot in the NCAA Regionals.
The championship came down to the final matches, with High Point winning three of five singles matchups to clinch the title in a tightly contested finish.
UNC Asheville struck first with Caroline Patterson earning a 4 and 3 win over Ella Perna in Match 1. Pennie Osterberg extended the lead for UNC Asheville with a 2 and 1 victory over Anna Howerton in Match 2.
High Point responded in Match 3, where Eva Lye secured a 1 up win over Jordyn Arts to put High Point on the board. The momentum continued in Match 4, as Anaïs Arafi delivered another 1 up victory over Breanna Hoese to even the match at 2 to 2.
The deciding point came in Match 5, where Makayla Grubb closed out a dominant 8 and 7 win over Lauren Madson to secure the championship for High Point.
With the win, High Point claims its first Big South title in program history and earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.
