Tennessee Wins First SEC Women’s Golf Championship with Match Play Victory Over Auburn

Tennessee secured the 2026 SEC Women’s Golf Championship at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida, defeating Auburn 3–2 in the match play final to earn the first title in program history.

The Lady Vols advanced to match play as the No. 6 seed after finishing stroke play at 2 over. Tennessee moved through the bracket with a 4–1 win over Oklahoma in the quarterfinals and a 3–2 result against Texas A&M in the semifinals.

In the final, Tennessee earned three points to close out the championship. Kyra Van Kan won her match 2 and 1, Sophie Christopher delivered a 6 and 5 result, and Sofie Engesaeth added another 6 and 5 victory.

This marks Tennessee’s first SEC title and its first match play wins at the championship since the format was introduced in 2018. The program previously finished runner up in 1993 and 1999.

The win also adds to a strong 2025–26 season for Tennessee, which has recorded multiple individual medalists and several team victories.
