Wells Williams: A Standout Talent in Men's College Golf

Williams, a graduate of Oak Hill Academy in West Point, Mississippi, has demonstrated immense potential as a rising star in men’s college golf. His talent has earned him numerous accolades, including a ranking of 49th among Division I men's golfers by Clippd and 37th by the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR). He has been recognized as a Golfweek Honorable Mention and is a two-time GCAA Division I PING All-Region Team selection. Notably, in his freshman year, he was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team—a testament to his early impact in collegiate golf.

Before joining Vanderbilt, Williams had an outstanding career at Oak Hill Academy. His achievements include being the No. 1 ranked golfer in Mississippi, a USA Junior Ryder Cup Team member, an AJGA First-Team All-American, and a three-time Mississippi high school individual champion.

Williams's consistency on the course has led to impressive success at Vanderbilt. In his freshman year, he captured his first individual collegiate title at the 2023 Cabo Collegiate. During his sophomore year, he contributed to the Commodores' victories at the 2023 St. Andrews Links Collegiate and the 2024 Watersound Invitational, while also securing two top-10 finishes. His junior year has been particularly remarkable—he qualified for the 124th U.S. Amateur Championship, advancing to match play, and made his PGA TOUR debut at the 124th U.S. Open Championship. He earned his U.S. Open spot through Golf’s Longest Day, finishing third at the U.S. Open Final Qualifying at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Maryland.

Williams’s collegiate successes are a testament to his skill, dedication, and relentless pursuit of excellence. As he continues his junior year, we eagerly anticipate his future achievements and look forward to seeing his career flourish.
