Walker Cup 2025: Cypress Point Sets the Stage
The Walker Cup returns on September 6–7, 2025, with the United States and Great Britain & Ireland facing off at the iconic Cypress Point Club in California. The biennial match brings together the top 10 amateurs from each side in a format that mixes foursomes and singles over two days.
A Historic Rivalry
Since 1922, the Walker Cup has been the pinnacle of amateur team golf. The U.S. leads the series comfortably, but GB&I has made its mark with memorable wins, including an upset a decade ago. The 2025 edition will be the 50th playing of the match, and the first at Cypress Point since 1981.
Cypress Point’s Challenge
Alister MacKenzie’s coastal masterpiece will test every part of a player’s game. Narrow fairways, changing winds, and dramatic holes along the Pacific create an atmosphere where precision is everything. Its return as a Walker Cup venue adds history to one of the most anticipated amateur events in years.
Players to Watch
Team USA is led by a standout group of rising stars. Auburn’s Jackson Koivun has already collected every major collegiate award this season. Ben James has experience in international team play and remains one of the most reliable American amateurs. Mason Howell, the U.S. Amateur champion, has shown he thrives under pressure. Michael La Sasso arrives with an NCAA individual title and a PGA Tour start on his resume. Ethan Fang, winner of the Amateur Championship, brings proven success on big stages.
What’s at Stake
There are 26 points available. The U.S. needs 13 to retain the trophy, while GB&I must secure 13.5 to win it back. With live coverage on Golf Channel and Peacock, fans will get a front-row seat to one of the most prestigious competitions in the amateur game.
