Tulsa Men’s Golf Returns in 2026 with Brandon Wilkins as Head Coach
The University of Tulsa has officially reinstated its men’s golf program and named Brandon Wilkins as head coach. The team will resume competition in the 2026–27 season, nearly a decade after it was discontinued following the 2015–16 academic year.
Wilkins arrives from SMU, where he spent five seasons and helped lead the Mustangs to three NCAA Championship appearances. His tenure included coaching multiple all-conference selections, two All-Americans, and two conference players of the year. Prior to SMU, he held coaching roles at Denver and Abilene Christian, where he helped both programs reach postseason play.
Tulsa Athletic Director Justin Moore said Wilkins brings leadership and a strong development background to the program. Wilkins noted the university’s investment and golf tradition as key reasons for taking the job, adding he is eager to begin building a competitive roster ahead of the team’s fall 2026 return.
The program’s reinstatement was announced in June 2025, made possible by significant contributions from alumni Sharon D. Prince and Robert P. “Bob” Prince, as well as support from several foundations. Tulsa men’s golf previously won 11 conference titles before its discontinuation.
