Methodist Captures 2025 NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championship at Midvale CC; Lynchburg’s Edward Coffren Wins Individual Title
Penfield, N.Y. – Methodist University solidified its place atop the Division III golf landscape with a resilient team victory at the 2025 NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championship, held at Midvale Country Club in Penfield, New York. Entering the week as the No. 1-ranked team in the country, the Monarchs closed with a tournament-best final round to finish at +23, securing a five-shot win over Illinois Wesleyan (+28) and a seven-shot margin over Emory (+30).
Methodist’s path to the title wasn’t without adversity. A second-round 15-over threatened to derail their championship hopes, but a composed +4 third round and a dominant 4-under final round flipped the leaderboard. Senior Haden Ruby was key to the comeback, firing a closing-round 67 to finish T-5 individually.
The individual championship went to Edward Coffren of Lynchburg, who delivered four impressive rounds of 68-73-69-70 to finish at 8-under-par, becoming the national champion by one shot over Bethel (MN)’s Will Karkoc (-7).
