Lukas Taggart Wins NCGA Amateur Championship in 39-Hole Battle

Lukas Taggart, a senior at the Colorado School of Mines, rallied from as many as five down to defeat Jimmy Castles in a 39-hole marathon at Spyglass Hill Golf Course to win the 122nd NCGA Amateur Championship. He clinched the victory with a 3-wood approach of roughly 260 yards to 20 feet on the par-5 39th hole, then two-putted for birdie. Castles narrowly missed his five-foot par putt that would have extended the match.

Taggart, from Washoe Valley, Nevada, was a Second-Team All-RMAC selection in 2024–25 and earned Academic All-District and First-Team Academic All-RMAC honors. He posted three top-20 finishes last season, averaging 74.07 strokes per round.
