Gubenko Clings to One-Shot Lead After Round Two at Porter Cup
Nikita Gubenko of the United States and a George Mason University alumnus holds a one-shot lead through two rounds of the Porter Cup at Niagara Falls Country Club in Lewiston, New York.
Gubenko, who opened with a course-record 62 on Tuesday, followed it up with a 74 to sit at eight under 136 heading into Friday’s third round.
Blake Phillips of Australia and fellow countryman Coby Carruthers are tied for second at seven under. Phillips posted rounds of 67 and 70, while Carruthers followed his 65 with a 72.
Matthew Javier of Canada and Garrett Rank of Canada are tied for fourth at five under. Rank carded a 69 on Wednesday to climb the leaderboard.
Five players are tied for sixth at four under, including Eddie Gu (Canada), Ben Loomis (United States), Calen Sanderson (United States), Liam McEvoy (Australia), and Nolan Haynes (United States).
