CGN Player Highlight and Interview: Lucy Darr’s Steady Rise at Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State sophomore Lucy Darr has quickly established herself as a key part of the Cowgirls’ lineup. A Stillwater native, she committed to OSU just six months after taking golf seriously in high school, guided by her father, assistant men’s coach Donnie Darr.



Career and Amateur Highlights

  • Top-25 finish at the 2025 Carmel Cup with a final-round 70

  • Freshman stroke average of 75.05 across 20 rounds, including two scores of 69

  • 2025 Porter Cup runner-up with a closing 69, the lowest round of the day

Path into golf
Began playing multiple sports and only turned to golf seriously as a junior in high school. Committed to OSU six months later.

Family influence
Her father, Donnie, remains her primary coach, while head coach Alan Bratton and former Cowboy Chris Tidland serve as key mentors. She also credits her mom, Tina, for constant support.

College transition
Though she stayed in Stillwater, she described the move to OSU as “a whole new town,” stressing the importance of organization, sleep, and balance.

Mindset
Keeps the game fun by using her NCAA day off for casual rounds with friends. Believes golf should always feel enjoyable, not like a chore.

Current focus
Concentrates on wedge play and putts inside 10 feet, calling them the biggest scoring areas in college golf.

Team goal
The Cowgirls are motivated by their “on the wall” mantra, aiming to win a Big 12 or
NCAA title and secure a team photo alongside OSU’s trophies at Karsten Creek.
