CGN Feature: Interview with Jake Peacock

CGN Interview with Jake Peacock

CGN recently caught up with Jake Peacock, standout golfer at the University of South Florida, currently ranked in the PGA Tour U Top 25 and named to the Haskins Award Watch List — one of the most prestigious honors in college golf.

Peacock’s journey in golf began early. “I started playing competitively when I was 7 or 8,” he shared, crediting early coaching, high school golf, and a strong support system for building his foundation. He also highlighted the impact of working with a mental performance coach to sharpen his mindset on and off the course.

After a stellar freshman season at Western Carolina University, Jake made the decision to transfer to USF. “The team culture, coaching staff, and opportunity to grow really stood out,” he said. He also offered advice to other college athletes considering the transfer portal: be intentional, and trust your instincts.

At USF, Peacock has continued to develop his game under Coach Steve Bradley, pointing to the team’s competitive environment as a key driver in his progression. “I’ve learned how to fully commit to each shot and trust my preparation,” he said. That growth has helped fuel his rise into the national spotlight.

Outside of golf, Jake talked about the challenge of balancing school and athletics, saying time management and perspective have been essential. And while individual accolades like the Haskins nomination mean a lot, his focus remains on team success and steady improvement.

It was a pleasure speaking with Jake — we’re excited to follow the rest of his season.
